Pastor's Corner

Welcome to Koinonia!

Hi!   I'm Rich Sisco, pastor of Koinonia.   My wife Debbie and I welcome you to our website!   We're happy that you've come across our little corner of the internet...please explore!   There's lots to see.

We also invite you to meet us at Koinonia.   We have visitors in our worship service most Sunday mornings.   We would be happy if you were one of them!   You're welcome to drop in any Sunday.

Reflections for this month...

What's in the name?

A common question around here is, "What does Koinonia mean?" The quick answer is, "It means fellowship." But what does fellowship mean? The jokester says, "Fellowship is what you get when you put a bunch of fellows in a boat!" Well, maybe.

According to the Bible, fellowship is a spiritual relationship between believers and God and between fellow-believers. But this idea has become secularized and often means little more than eating and friendly conversation. One pastor suggested rewriting a hymn to reflect contemporary reality, "God Be With You 'Til We Eat Again."

At Koinonia we enjoy food as much as anyone, but we emphasize the spiritual connection that comes from our covenant with Christ and our commitment to one another. Our children sing a song that gives a simple definition to Koinonia. "It means worshipping and sharing, fellowship and caring. Yes I am a Koinonia Kid." That's Koinonia.
