A word from our Pastor
Welcome to Koinonia!
I am quite new here at Koinonia myself, but I am finding out very quickly that Koinonia lives up to its name (Koinonia means fellowship). I am very excited about what the Lord is doing here, as the congregation has expressed a deep desire to find new ways to grow spiritually and to reach out to the community with the love of Christ.
My focus here at Koinonia is quite simple in theory, but very challenging to live out well. Jesus gave us the greatest two commandments of loving God with all that is within us and then loving others as we love ourselves. I seek to keep the first commandment the center of our focus here at Koinonia. While the term 'loving God' can be vague, it is my joy to explore what it means and to be faithful in loving the Lord. In this we also recognize that if we truly love God, it needs to be evident in how we love others.
With this focus I do realize that I cannot make myself love God or others more than what I do. We truly need the Holy Spirit to do this work in us (1 John 4:19- "We love because He first loved us"). We must first realize the depth of the Lord's love for us in a personal way. It is only then that we are able to love Him back and convey His love and gospel to others. Thus it is my prayer and aim here at Koinonia to first be rooted and grounded in knowing the Lord's kind intentions toward us, so that we can be effective in extending the good news of Jesus to others in prayer, word, and deed.
All of us here at Koinonia would like to invite you to meet us for our worship service on Sunday mornings. We would be happy to meet you and welcome you into the family! You're welcome to drop in any Sunday or call and talk to us at 480-963-2416.
Be blessed with the love of Christ,
Kent Beck, Pastor
